When they perform their must win World Cup match against Italy on Friday, south Africa will be nervous, coach Rassie Erasmus has stated.
The Springboks are in Pool B behind Italy and New Zealand reaching the knockout stage.
South Africa have won 13 of 14 matches against The Azzurri but didn’t lose to them recently as 2016.
“We’ve been preparing for 20 or 21 Test matches and it’s do or die today,” Erasmus said.
“The players believe it. I can not sit here and tell you since we’ve dropped to Italy in the past few years that we do not have a couple butterflies.
“They [Italy] will be really up with this match because they will not think they can defeat the All Blacks, but they will believe they can defeat the Springboks.”
South Africa, who were among those pre-tournament favorites, have made three modifications to their bunch in their defeat by New Zealand in their opening match.
Hooker Bongi Mbonambi, prop Tendai Mtawarira and lock Lood p Jager keep their positions.
Italy have recalled veteran Sergio Parisse at number eight, who’ll become the player in Tests.
