Right tackle La’el Collins has consented to a $50m contract extension with the Dallas Cowboys.
According to multiple sources, the deal includes $35m ensured, that’s the amount from the league for a tackle.
Despite skill-position trio Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott and Amari Cooper searching for paydays of the own – with Elliott’s holdout seeming like it will last into the season – the Cowboys locked up another newcomer that was young by extending Collins’ bargain and solidifying their line.
Back in August, they handed out a $64m contract.
26, collins, signed as an undrafted free agent out of LSU after NFL teams passed him at the draft days after he was questioned in the murder of a former girlfriend although not being a suspect.
From the time that the investigation showed Collins was not involved, he was a part of the Cowboys’ roster, registering a three-year, ” 1.5Zero arrangement.
Owner Jerry Jones asserted to update this first deal, and followed with a two-year, $15.4m contract at 2017.
Collins started his NFL career but has solidified this line’s correct side to All-Pro Tyron Smith on the left side for a bookend.
