A draw was rescued by adam Lallana for unbeaten Premier League leaders Liverpool.
While Spurs rescued a late 1-1 draw 2-0 was won by manchester City at Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Aston Villa grabbed a dramatic 2-1 win at home with Burnley being beaten by Leicester from exactly the same scoreline.
Everton saw off West Ham 2-0, together with Wolves and Southampton drawing on 1-1 along with Norwich and Bournemouth playing a draw out.
Here’s my team of this week have a read and select your very own below.
Ederson: The excellent save from the header matched only Christian Benteke from Ederson along with his second-half rescue from Wilfried Zaha was not bad either.
All three guys played their role within a different collection of competitions that were glorious in the Premier League. That was the save of this weekend for me personally.
Ederson was able to drive Benteke’s header on to the pub I will never know. The power of this touch and the pace of the ball made the rescue even more spectacular.
Ederson’s intervention retains City still within touching distance of Liverpool and came at a time.
Did you know? As well as making two excellent saves, Ederson also made more passes (24) than all but five of Crystal Palace’s players yesterday, with just Luka Milivojevic (89.5%) with a higher pass completion rate among the home players compared to the Brazilian keeper (87.5%).
Dawson: This is a game that Watford deserved to win where VAR was more of a hindrance than an aid.
Dele Alli made of this target much – the end was great but the handball that preceded the goal should not have stood and it had been authoritative for me. Spurs are in need of a bit of luck and therefore is Alli.
Watford on the other hand will be showing signs of recovery. As was Christian Kabasele, craig Dawson was glorious in the back for these.
Did you know? Dawson (3) created more cubes than any other player throughout Watford’s match with Tottenham.
Fernandinho: When I saw that the Manchester City group sheet shortly before kick-off and noticed they had no recognised centre-half in their back four I believed Guardiola’s at it . Here is a trainer who is daring.
He does not care about conference or training manuals, he plays with their strengths and just looks in his own players.
How lucky to have Fernandinho in your ranks when your are hurt or those defenders don’t have the composure to deal with the strain or have the guts. The game is nothing if not about courage.
Did you know? Fernandinho (4) made more clearances than any other City participant against Palace, with just three other players to the reigning champions having more bits of the ball compared to the Brazilian (96).
Mings: The banner of Tyrone Mings held up by Villa lovers as the England walked to the pitch in Villa Park stated it really.
Not only has that player come of age as a Premier League player but having made an impressive debut against Bulgaria in midweek, Mings ran himself together with Henry abilities having suffered the racist abuse.
His performance from Brighton was not bad. Read more about this dilemma in the Matter’s Crooks below.
Did you know? Mings (5) created more clearances and regained ownership more often (12) than any other Aston Villa participant against Brighton, while just Jack Grealish (63) tried more moves than the England international (58).
Gomes: If Everton needed a victory that was it, even if only to close those Moaning Minnies that are beginning to question Marco’s Silva’s ability up.
This was an exceptional performance by Everton from an in-form West Ham and the catalyst for this performance was Andre Gomes.
The Portugal international has been overlooked by Everton due to injury but if he can stay healthy and Theo Walcott stays focussed then whatever is possible at Goodison. It is still a excellent place.
Did you know? Gomes made more passes (46) and more moves in the opposition’s half (32) than any other player in the Everton v West Ham match.
Tielemans: Leicester City are third in the table and were second following their controversial win over Burnley.
I must say I did not see the clip but VAR did.
Gone are the times when can’t afford it.
That which was conspicuous on the day was that the performance of Youri Tielemans. The Belgium global was outstanding and took his goal brilliantly.
Did you know? Considering his Premier League debut, only Jamie Vardy (17) has scored more goals for Leicester than Tielemans (5), although no Foxes participant has helped more from the contest (5).
Grealish: This was a crushing game of soccer not least since Graham Potter’s Brighton club made it accordingly.
Had it not been for the sending-off this match’s results could have been very different of Aaron Mooy.
It took a special performance from Jack Grealish to turn this match to victory against defeat – England director Gareth Southgate saw this game and must have been impressed.
I stated the last time I picked the Villa captain that he knocked on the door that was worldwide. He’s kicking down it.
Did you know? After having scored just once in his first 41 looks in the competition grealish has played this, in Premier League games.
Silva: I have observed performances from Kevin de Bruyne who have thrilled me but there is something about a David Silva game that makes you feel like you’re watching a true artist along with Yaya Toure.
Everything he does looks so amazing it is almost like watching a ballerina. He even succeeds elegantly.
The Spain international was brilliant from a Crystal Palace team who attempted to lay a glove failed. As for Silva he really should be performing at the Bolshoi theatre.
Sterling: Manchester City’s away strip made them look as a team dressed for the Paris catwalk. For Crystal Palace, City did not play like it.
I can’t remember a game in which Raheem Sterling created an impression without scoring. If anyone needed reminding how much Sterling’s game has improved under the watchful eye on Pep Guardiola this was it.
The way that he dispossessed Wilfried Zaha using the most exquisite slide handle before setting up City’s next assault and chased down 40 yards was spectacular. Sterling is creeping ever closer to taking Cristiano Ronaldo’s mantle.
A execution in a Champions League triumph may do it.
Did you know? Sterling has gathered 13 goals and seven assists in only 16 appearances for Manchester City and England combined in 2019-20.
Rashford: Make no mistake, this is one hell of a performance by Manchester United.
I thought United would be trounced by Liverpool but couldn’t have been further from the reality.
The reason United looked remarkable was simply due to Marcus Rashford upfront and Harry Maguire at the trunk. The England international looked red hot in midweek against that kind and Bulgaria has clearly infiltrated his game at Manchester United.
Liverpool could not take care of the youngster. For Liverpool, Rashford ran out of steam.
Did you know? Rashford has scored a few of the last four Premier League goals of Manchester United . Leicester will be the only team he’s scored more frequently against (four).
Hudson-Odoi: ” I really don’t understand what Frank Lampard is currently serving these kids for breakfast but it surely appears to be running.
The protege to find himself back in the limelight is Callum Hudson-Odoi. Before he got injured but against Newcastle he seemed back to his best I selected Hudson-Odoi in my team last season.
Chelsea are not the force they’ve been but with Fikayo Tomori, Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, Hudson-Odoi along with Kurt Zouma – and a little bit of chance and a fair end – .
Did you know? Hudson-Odoi became the first teenager to create five or more chances since Romelu Lukaku against Blackburn in May 2012 in a Premier League match for Chelsea.

When we thought that normal service had resumed following a tumultuous week in Sofia, another incendiary device went off in a FA Cup fixture. We were all left reeling by the events that happened during England’s match against Bulgaria but nothing prepared us for the director of Haringey Borough shooting his players off the pitch then it was alleged Yeovil fans racially abused his players throughout their fourth qualifying round tie.
Five months ago of the country – most of whom insisted that the pitch amidst misuse walks off – didn’t know there existed a Uefa three-point protocol and the other half did not care. They appear to have their wish.
This most recent occasion in Haringey has set the Football Association in an almost impossible position. The FA is in the middle of an enquiry seeing Bernardo Silva networking post which may lead to a mandatory ban. A submission to Uefa has been sent explaining why the FA instigated the protocol in Bulgaria, however, most humiliating of all, the possibility of having to unravel this debacle at Haringey resulting in players walking in their competition due to alleged racism is a catastrophic blow.
Who would have thought that after the exemplary performance of England on and off the pitch at Sofia on Tuesday that it would function as events in their contest that would bite the Football Association at the leg?
England impressed within their win over Australia, but currently face the evaluation of holders New Zealand to get a place at the World Cup final.
